Hearts Forever

Our sweet Leslie sat with her Grandma Phyllis for three days and held her hand as she passed away. She was such a devoted Granddaughter, and I know Phyllis appreciated being surrounded and embraced by Leslie's love. I found this little phrase online and thought it perfect for my sympathy card to Leslie.
For this card I used Memory Box die Catalina, Spellbinder Nestability classic scalloped heart, Sizzix heart embossing folder and of course did all of this with my Cuttlebug. The Cala Lily and crystal flower are from Papermart, the Heart stickpins from WOC, the feathers and ribbon from my LCS.
Don't forget, there's only a couple more days to enter my Candy and The Digi Bells DT blog hop here
Happy Leap Day!

Axton is ONE!

Our Sweet Grandson Axton is turning ONE! I would call him little, but not so much... He was born at 10.15lbs and hasn't stopped growing since! He is our gentle giant :) I decided it was time to bust out the kraft paper, my fiskars paper crimper, stashed bazzil buttons and just so happened to have letter buttons to spell his name. I even found the chipboard number 1 and the tab - covered them in BasicGrey and kraft.
It was fun to make a fancy fold easel card in an opposite fold, so the #1 would stand tall.
Mo Manning in her "Kai is One" image has totally captured Axton - this image looks JUST like him!
you can't really see it in the photo, but the inside of the card has a 5.5 x 5.5 2nd layer of Kraft that I also crimped.
Because the BasicGrey had spots and dots, I decided the image needed a little more depth/busy-ness, hence the dot shadow treatment. I actually colored the image twice, as when I cut the first image with the nestability and went to emboss, the die slipped and I nearly cried - LOL, but all was good with the second coloring job, so I got over it :) And besides, you know I love to color, so found the silver lining and enjoyed coloring a second time - bonus!

I followed the sketch over at Sweet Sunday Challenge Sketch #153
Now don't forget, you only have until Friday, March 2nd midnight (california time) to enter my Candy for the random draw for one Elisabeth Bell Digi Stamp of your choice! The Digi Bells blog hop will end on March 3rd, so there's still time to enter both here!
Have a GREAT week!

Follow your Heart

You know we all have our favorite artists, and I like so many, LOVE Mo Manning! This sweet image is "to grammy's" and the theme at Mo's DP2 Challenge this week is Lace with a Mo image. I had so much fun coloring this image and adding the DP papers from Prima's Annalee collection. The paper flowers are from Papermart and the rosewood is Martha Stewart's medium branch punch. I also used my Cuttlebug with my Spellbinders nestabilities heart circles, Memory Box Crisp Bows and Sofia heart, along with my Sizzix oval dies. The sentiment was a freebie via Free Digital Stamps from Broken Box Stock. The lace is Hero Arts and 1/8" light blue satin ribbon from The Ribbon Boutique via my LCS.
Followed the sketch over at Seems A Little Sketchy by Jenn
and colored to my heart's content with my copics. Seriously, I live to COLOR!
Even dolled up the inside a bit with another Memory Box Sofia heart and more lace!
Now just a reminder... there is only a week left to enter my Candy for a chance at the giveaway of one Elisabeth Bell image of your choice - but you must enter for the opportunity!
Have a GREAT week!

We Miss You Sew Much!

It's time for a new challenge at Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge Blog and since I'm a Guest Designer for The Digi Bells DT, I get to play on Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge Blog, too - YIPEEEEE! For my project I chose this sweet image "Curly Locks Kiki" - she was sooo fun to color!
I decided to use my muslin and do a wee bit of free-stitching - gosh, I haven't stitched in quite a few years, but had fun doing this one. Then decided that I wanted the image to be in a "hoop" - had to layer the musline between 3 cardstock circles with lots of 3-d foam tape to get it just right :)
I used my hoarded stash of graphic45, along with some HeroArts flowers, Queen & Co. nightfall jewels, cut with my Sizzix dies, made my circle sentiment in photoshop, cut flowers with my fiskars punch, distressed a bit with Tim Holtz "vintage photo", and even colored the "black & white" ribbon to "brown & white" with my copics.
The inside was fun, too... I'll send this one out to our son&daughter-in-law, Devan & Danielle, who are now in Denver and we miss them sew much!
Have a lovely weekend and don't forget to get your projects entered to Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge Blog with the theme of stitching and swirls using any Elisabeth Bell image.
There's still a week left for the February Blog Hop at The Digi Bells DT, too, where your entry will give you the opportunity to win the newest digi image "On Cupid's Cloud" by Elisabeth Bell. Oh, and don't forget to enter my candy here for the chance at my giveaway of one Elisabeth Bell's images of your choice - but you have to enter to win!

You are so Beautiful to Me & a bite of Candy!

Hello, Friends! Today is a lovely Saturday, and I've completed my latest project for The Digi Bells, where I'm so thrilled to be a Guest Design Team member! I love this image by Elisabeth Bell "Click". As I was working this morning my youngest son (20yo), Collin, came up to see what I was working on and promptly said "Is that you?". Amazing to me how Elisabeth captures us ALL in her art! I had everything all worked out, except the sentiment... well... listening to my favorite music (60s/70s/80s) a bit of Joe Cocker came on with... "You are so Beautiful to me" - PERFECT! I used some Prima "Jack n' Jill" DP, embossed with Spellbinders impressibilities, cut and embossed with some nestabilites, embossed with cuttlebug folders and since The Digi Bells blog hop challenge to win "On Cupid's Cloud" is not only to leave a comment on all of the DT blogs, but also to create with any Elisabeth Bell image and enter it into the challenge on the blog with the theme of "lots of lace" - I followed that theme. Used some Hero Arts lace, some new paper roses I found at PaperMart online, colored and glittered, had to use some pearl stickpins and a metal butterfly that I've had for ages - oh, ya, and used my fiskers lacy edge punch.

I followed the sketch over at Sketch Saturday and had a great day!

 And even decorated the inside!
Just a wee closeup of those lovely paper flowers

Now don't forget, I have a bite of EB candy to giveaway, but you have to play here for a chance to win!
love,
Wendy

Altered upcycle!

So hubby picked up some of my fave perfume for me and the container just screamed "i'm a paintbrush holder"!

So... that's what i did - it's perfect! Rummaged through my stash and found some fun Foofala paper, fashioned a cheesecloth flower for the top, distressed every edge with Tim Holtz distress inks and it happily sits in a corner of my workspace. I want to learn how to use the distress inks for watercoloring, hence the need for paintbrushes - then to my delight I see where Tim Holtz has come out with a marker set of distress inks - I HAVE TO HAVE THESE  once they arrive at OOZAK! (i'm on the "notify list":)
Have a lovely Valentine's Day, Friends!

Little Rapunzel!

Rapunzel, Rapunzel... let down your hair! Over and over I was saying that as coloring this darling image Little Rapunzel from Elisabeth Bell Designs Digital Stamps Collection. Today was my first post over at The Digi Bells - be sure to check it out, as my teamie "Wendy" also did Little Rapunzel - you can see how versatile this stamp is.  Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge Blog also has a really fun theme "Love - hearts, hearts and more hearts" with the opportunity to win TWO digis!

For this card I followed the sketch over at Sketch Saturday
What a fun Sketch! I used my Spellbinder Impressability flower silhouette, edgeabilities classic triple scallop and nestabilities circle dies, along with Sizzix circle and scallop circle dies, rubbed it with a bit of Tim Holtz distress ink, along with the Prima Printery Collection design paper, whipped up some little black chiffon flowers, added little red buttons with flowers in them and colored up the sweet Little Rapunzel image with my copics.

Wishing you all a "let down your hair, Rapunzel" kinda Sunday and week!

Show me with Cheryl

This weekend, I ran over to Sassy Cheryl's Digi Store (BIG SALE) and her blog is having a 100th challenge celebration. Needless to say, I picked up some super sweet images. I had to start with one, so I chose the fairy - go figure :) and you can see the completed project here. Now and again I pop in and join Cheryl in her "show me" challenges, and figured this week I would join in the fun! Thank you, Cheryl firstly for your wonderful artwork; secondly for hosting such fun challenges!
Have a GREAT week!

Fairy Wishes & Kisses!

The cutie-patootie image is from Sassy Cheryl and dolled her up and then painted all around her, her wand and face with shimmer spritz (decided to paint around to not actually soak the fairy in sparkle). I followed the sketch again over at Papertake Weekly (love that sketch), used my Basic Grey "out of print" DPs, found a Sizzix sizzlet butterfly (forgot I had) in my die box, used my fiskars edge punch and Spellbinders nestie, oh and... in my stash I found the pearl butterfly trail from Recollections. I colored her up with my copics, intentionally leaving edge lines (I remember doing this when I was a little girl coloring with Crayolas ;).
Sending you Fairy wishes and kissed!

It's All About the LOVE!

How Fun was this to make, so fun, I made two (one for each of our sons/wives who live out of state)! The darling images are from Heather Ellis' Pure Innocence collection, which I took into photoshop to make a couple, so they would resemble my sweet hubby and me :) I followed the sketch over at Totally Papercrafts Friday Challenges and did a little twist by making the image a mini-easel to reveal the sentiment. The paper is SEI and used some stash Pebbles candy dots, heart stickpin and pearls, gingham ribbon, Spellbinders scalloped hearts, EK success scallop edge punch, along with Sweet & Sassy heart dies, and colored the images with copics.
Good to see you! Have an "all about the love" week!

Beautiful Day!

Since it's February, I can spill the beans now and do a h-ap, h-a-pp, h-a-p-p-y dance! I wasn't going to do this until after I retired from my "day" job, but I couldn't resist when I saw Elisabeth Bell's Digi Bells Design Team had a challenge for a 3-month guest design team spot... well I won one of three spots - YIPPEEEE!!! I am just thrilled!
Okay for this creation, who knew... all you have to do is go to the pantry to find papercrafting supplies?!? :0 There on the shelf was a brand new package of cheesecloth and boy-O-boy did I have fun with it (never knew what I was missing, gosh I was missing a LOT). I believe Elisabeth snuck into the house one day and saw me at work - cuz, this image is TOTALLY ME! She nailed it purrrfectly! You can find Creative Genius Michele here at Elisabeth Bell Designs. I followed the sketch over at Papertake Weekly Challenge, fashioned a cheesecloth flower, rolled roses from paper and used my new Spellbinder's Impressabilities and Nestie label 3, along with my Tim Holtz burlap distress ink. The little roses and heartpins are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a BEAUTIFUL day!
